Main Exhibit Hall Renovation

The Main Exhibit Hall is one of the most frequently used buildings on the Colusa County Fairgrounds and serves as a central gathering space for the community. Throughout the year, the facility hosts family celebrations, nonprofit fundraisers, business meetings, educational programs, agricultural showcases, youth development activities, and community forums.

Despite its importance, the building is in critical need of renovation. Aging infrastructure, exterior deterioration, and the lack of adequate heating and air conditioning limit the building’s usability and comfort, impacting both fair-time activities and year-round events.

Completing the renovation will transform the Main Exhibit Hall into a modern, functional, and accessible facility that better serves the community while expanding opportunities for events and rentals across the North State.

Project Progress:

In 2022, the community stepped forward during the Colusa County Fair Junior Livestock Auction Fund-a-Need event and contributed over $200,000, allowing Phase One of the renovation to begin.

Thanks to this support, several key improvements have already been completed, including:

  • Significant underground work to provide adequate power to the building

  • Installation of a full HVAC system

  • Interior ventilation fans added to improve air circulation

  • New covered entrance overhangs at four of the building’s six entrances

These improvements have strengthened the facility and laid the groundwork for the next phase of renovation.

What's Still Needed:

While meaningful progress has been made, important work remains to fully complete the renovation.

Current estimates indicate that approximately $500,000 is needed to complete the project. Remaining work includes:

  • Major electrical upgrades to the building

  • Repair and removal of exterior dry rot

  • Exterior refurbishment and improvements

  • Completion of the final two covered entrances

  • Renovation of kitchen and restroom facilities

Completing these improvements will allow the Main Exhibit Hall to operate as a modern event facility capable of hosting larger gatherings, improving visitor experience, and increasing year-round rental opportunities.

How Can You Play a Role?

The Colusa County Fair Foundation is continuing its Phase Two Fund-a-Need campaign on Saturday, June 13th, to complete the renovation of the Main Exhibit Hall. Community members, businesses, and organizations can support the project through advanced donations submitted ahead of the auction or joining us in person on June 13 at the Junior Livestock Auction.  Every contribution helps move this project closer to completion and ensures the fairgrounds remain a thriving community hub for generations to come.
